Global Electronic Chemicals Market Research Report 2021

The electronics industry uses a broad range of highly sophisticated specialty chemicals in many processing steps in the manufacture of electronic components and products, in silicon wafers and integrated circuits, for packaging and printed circuit boards (PCBs), in the manufacture of compound semiconductors and optoelectronics, and in the production of flat panel display products. This report covers the major specialty chemicals consumed in the production of integrated circuits or silicon chips including silicon wafers, atmospheric and specialty gases, photoresists, ancillary chemicals, wet-processing chemicals, CMP slurries, thin film metals, copper plating chemicals, and new chemicals and precursor materials for low-k and high-k dielectrics.

IFF project director Lucas Li pointed out that electronic chemicals is an indispensable part of semiconductor processing and manufacturing. Asia Pacific regions such as Taiwan, China, Japan, and South Korea are the major consumer regions of global electronic chemicals due to their strong semiconductor market demand. Especially in Taiwan, TSMC is the world's largest consumer of electronic chemicals. In 2020 the market size of global is estimated to be xxx million USD. The IFF analysis team predicts that in 2027, the market size of global will reach xxx million USD. During the forecast period of 2022-2027, the market size of global Electronic Chemicals will increase by 6.5%.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC), established in 1987 with its headquarters and main operations located in the Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan, is best known for dedicated semiconductor foundry business, which is the manufacturer of integrated circuits (ICs) for customers based on their own or third parties' IC designs. Annual capacity of the manufacturing facilities managed by TSMC and its subsidiaries exceeded 12 million 12-inch equivalent wafers in 2018. These facilities include three 12-inch wafer GIGAFAB® fabs, four 8-inch wafer fabs, and one 6-inch wafer fab – all in Taiwan – as well as one 12-inch wafer fab at a wholly owned subsidiary, TSMC Nanjing Company Limited, and two 8-inch wafer fabs at wholly owned subsidiaries, WaferTech in the United States and TSMC China Company Limited.

The evolution of the semiconductor industry has mirrored the evolution of modern life. There is a constant battle to produce the smallest, fastest, and cheapest. Semiconductors are used to make transistors. The more transistors you can pack into a chip, the faster it will work. As the new technology is taken up, prices of chips fall. As companies find new ways to use chips, semiconductor sales increase. Further development of semiconductors has also driven demand for chemicals.
