Acrylic solid surface is a man-made material usually composed of a combination of marble dust, bauxite, acrylic, epoxy or polyester resins and pigments. Solid surface is manufactured by mixing acrylic, epoxide or polyester resin with powdered bauxite filler and pigments. The material chemically cures and is heated to 60°C or more. Cured material is then cut in sheets or shapes and sanded on one or both sides depending the brand used. Sometimes the material is brought to 160°C and cooled, to improve its heat resistance. Acrylic-modified polyester solid surface can be mixed one sheet at a time using different formulations, effects and appearances. Acrylic-modified polyester solid surface can be injected into molds to produce various solid decorative design figures.

Lucas Li further added that although the industry is developing rapidly due to the prosperity of the real estate industry in the Asia Pacific region, the homogenization competition is still very intense.

Due to the low barriers to entry artificial stone industry, the region's enthusiasm for the development of the Acrylic solid surface is high, low-level redundant construction phenomenon is more common in the region. Artificial stone production, especially granite corporate homogenization equipment, product homogeneity is serious, not the target market research, there is no clear product positioning. The same product with the expansion of the scale of increasingly fierce market competition, throat price competition has become the primary means of market. Due to lack of product innovation, differentiation can’t form the core competitiveness, some companies have to sacrifice quality in order to reduce costs, relying on that price, the number of fighting to maintain production.
